Bubba still pushing Kyoto Pact
Former President Bill Clinton will show up today at the U.N. Global Warming
Conference in Montreal – to the chagrin of the Bush administration. The
Associated Press reports on Clinton’s speaking at the United Nations’
Global Warming Conference in Montreal:
Bill Clinton, who as president championed the Kyoto Protocol clamping
controls on "greenhouse gases," was scheduled to speak at the conference
Friday afternoon — in an unofficial capacity but potentially at a critical
point in backroom talks involving the U.S. delegation.
The U.S. envoys, representing a Bush administration that renounced the Kyoto
pact, were said to be displeased by the 11th-hour surprise, although there
was no formal protest, according to an official in the Canadian government,
the conference host....
Clinton, who was invited here by the City of Montreal, will speak in an
unofficial context in the main conference hall Friday afternoon, said U.N.
conference spokesman John Hay.
A city spokesman said the former president will be representing the William
J. Clinton Foundation, which operates the Clinton Global Initiative, a
program focusing on climate change as a business opportunity, The Canadian
Press reported.
Democrat surrender policy
The
Drudge Report indicates that the Republican National Committee will
release a new ad highlighting the Democrats' policy of surrendering to
terrorists:
The DRUDGE REPORT has learned from a top GOP operative that the Republican
National Committee will provide state parties with a web video prior to
release tomorrow afternoon that shows a white flag waving over images of
Democrat leaders making anti-war remarks.
The ad is in response to the controversial comments Democratic Party
Chairman Howard Dean and 2004 Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry
made earlier in the week.
A Democratic strategist who had the web ad described to her said, "This is
way over the top but we have no one to blame but Dean, Kerry and others who
continue to pander to the anti-war activists within our party."
U.N. scandal
The United Nation continues to be a dysfunctional institution. Reforms are
stalled and Ambassador John Bolton has assured Secretary General Koffi Annan
that the U.S. will withhold payment unless reforms are implemented.
Now NewsMax reports that Annan is trying to bury his problems:
Sources inside the U.N.'s Staff union have privately criticized U.N. chief
Kofi Annan's decision to offer a number of "selected" employees "generous"
retirement packages.
More curious, is the fact, say U.N. sources, that those selected for the
"early termination" offers were not based on departmental seniority, a
common norm for such decisions.
The sources claim that "many" of those "retiring" may be currently or
potentially involved in a whole host of internal investigations, ranging
from embezzlements to work place harassment.
Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) remains unabated in his investigations into U.N.
corruption.
Democrat TV
The Democrat National Committee is repackaging their TV program according to
Dan Manatt (the Democratic political consultant who created and co-produces
the show):
Starting in late winter, DemsTV will relaunch under the new name
politicsTV.com. It's a different name, but the same attitude.
Before we make the switch official, we're taping a few pilot episodes to
determine what's good and what's not.
We've posted our first pilot for politicstv.com at demstv.com and we want
you to watch.
