CANDIDATES/CAUCUS:
It’s a Sunday almost a year
before the Iowa caucuses, not to mention that the Wabbits
are catering to other interests
-- DNC winter meeting,
Dem govs at national governors meeting in Washington
and auditioning for labor union support -- which makes for a
slow, uneventful day on the Iowa Wabbit front. Never fear,
however, because Iowa is a magnet for the Widiculous – and
Wadical – Wabbits. They will be back…DMR’s Jane Norman covers second day of Wabbit
appearances before the DNC. Headline: “Candidate Edwards
defends legal career…Senator: Unlike Bush, I’ve helped
victims, families”…Speaking of the DNC winter meeting,
AP’s Nedra Pickler reported that after the Wabbits
addressed their sessions over two days “Gephardt, whose
candidacy had seemed stalled coming into the meeting,
impressed many activists with a speech that contained more
policy initiatives than his rivals and more passion than
they’re accustomed to from him.” Pickler also reported
that Dean, who got standing ovations for his anti-war pitch,
“appealed to the left wing of the party. But he left
activists wondering if his anti-war, liberal message could
beat the Republican president.”…Headline on DMR’s “Potomac Fever” column: “Harkin set to
make presence felt in campaigns” Columnist Jane Norman
writes about Harkin’s plans for forums featuring the Dem
candidates across Iowa.
