Bill’s big bucks help
The
NY Times reports on Bill Clinton’s fund-raising schedule to win back
control of Congress for the Democrats:
In what promises to be his most intensive campaign season since he left
office, former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear at more than
two dozen fund-raisers for Democrats around the country, hoping to collect
at least $20 million for his party's drive to recapture Congress.
Gingrich’s win
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was the easy winner of a straw poll that
tested 2008 presidential candidate support at the Minnesota Republican Party
state convention.
Gingrich got about 40 percent of the 540 votes cast, putting him far ahead
of Virginia's Sen. George Allen, who got about 15 percent. Next were
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Arizona Sen. John McCain, each with
about 10 percent, reports the Star Tribune in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
