"Did the training wheels fall off?"
John Kerry
commented to reporters concerning President Bush’s
bike accident.
“Politics is a bloodless battle, it is not a
genteel sport,”
Rep. Michael Capuano
said about Kerry’s decision to delay
accepting the nomination. “Those who play
by genteel rules, generally don't win. The average
guy in the street could not care less what Kerry
is doing . . . it will be a coronation without the
crown going on his head.''
'I don't think John could be married to somebody
who didn't interest him mindwise, intellectually.
He'd maybe play around but not marry them,"
said Teresa
Heinz Kerry.
"It is vital that oil producers provide adequate
supplies to ensure that prices are at levels that
foster strong global economic growth,"
U.S. Treasury
Secretary John Snow said. "Lower oil prices
would contribute to our efforts to achieve strong
and sustained growth."
"I think all Americans would love their country if
they had to live abroad for a while,"
Justice Scalia
said.
"Several battleground states outpaced the USA in
job growth. The top 10 in order: Missouri, Oregon,
Wisconsin, West, Virginia, Minnesota, Michigan,
New Hampshire, Florida, Nevada, Washington."

Bush to Europe for D-Day
President Bush will visit France for the 60th
anniversary of D-Day -- June 6th. The event is the
start of a major round of international events for
President Bush. Bush will host the G-8 countries
in the Sea Islands of Ga. June 8-10 before going
to a NATO meeting in Istanbul; June 28-29 Bush
will make a stop in Italy to visit both the
President of Italy and the Pope.
Bush is scheduled to detail his plans for
transition in Iraq in the coming week before he
sets out for these international exchanges. The
conflict between America and "Old" Europe has
reached the largest rift with the invasion of
Iraq. The question is whether Bush can thaw the
activist approach of rooting out terrorism with
the European approach of pacification.
Just POlitics
Congress to investigate Chalabi
U.S. lawmakers pledged to investigate charges that
the Iraqi National Congress leader, Ahmad Chalabi,
passed classified information to Iran. Sen. Chuck
Hagel, R-Neb., a member of the Senate Intelligence
Committee announced that he would seek information
from intelligence agencies regarding Chalabi
alleged passing of secrets to Iran.
Chalabi appeared on Sunday talk shows stating that
he would welcome Congress investigating the
charges and blamed CIA Director George Tenent for
inventing his overthrow.
News stories and congressmen appeared
unsympathetic to Chalabi’s offer to testify before
Congress with many calling him a con artist.
Chalabi was a source of information leading up to
the war in Iraq.
Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., chairman of the Senate
Intelligence Committee, emphatically stated that
Chalabi’s intelligence reports were not the source
of the reason to go to war.
Michael Moore’s Odyssey
Political activist/director Michael Moore has
taken the Cannes Film Festival by storm with his
new Bush-bashing project "Fahrenheit 9/11."
However, Fred Barnes of “The Weekly Standard”
writes about an incident in Moore’s book, “Stupid
White Men,” where Moore reports that he
listened to Barnes on “The McLaughlin Grou”p
rant about how children today don’t know a thing
about “The Iliad & The Odyssey.” In his
book, Moore book reports that he calls up Barnes
and asks him what the books by Homer mean.
According to Moore, Barnes couldn’t answer.
Barnes now reports that Moore never called and he
has never met Moore. Barnes suggests that Al
Franken include Moore in a sequel to his book,
“Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them.”
Nader’s V. P. advice
Presidential opponent Ralph Nader is now trying to
help Sen. John Kerry choose his Vice Presidential
candidate. He told reporters that he advised Kerry
to choose either Dick Gephardt or John Edwards.
Nader rejected Sen. Evan Bayh as being too soft a
Democrat.
In another matter, Nader is demanding that Kerry
condemn a new political group, the National
Progress Fund, which is running ads telling Nader
supporters that voting for the consumer advocate
would help Bush.
"We would like to see a clear message from Mr.
Kerry that he opposes this effort against Ralph
Nader," said Nader.
The group is running an ad that is a testimonial
by someone who voted for Nader last time and says
that his vote caused the election of Bush.

Kerry’s America... back in the Vietnam boat again
The Kerry campaign has a new theme, “Let America
be America again.” Best of the Web’s James Taranto
has this to say about it:
"Let America be America again." What does this
mean? We didn't realize America stopped being
America, and we have no idea what America is now
if not America.”
Senator Kerry attempted to clear up the fog with
the following explanations: "Talking about 'Let
America be America again' is tapping into that
value system that people think makes this country
strong..." "What is it that makes us strong, and
what do we have to do to get that back, to let
America be America? Strength means people being
able to do better in their jobs. Strength means
having the courage to stand up to special
interests that steal the agenda here in
Washington. Strength is fighting to have health
coverage for children. . . .
And this hippie-zone one-liner Kerry “shaped” all
by himself: "For America to be America for any of
us, America must be America for all of us...”
And finally, Kerry offers this view of America:
"We were Americans and we were literally in the
same boat," he said, recalling his Navy crew in
Vietnam. "We're all in the same boat here in
America, and we need to come together now to lift
this country up, not tear it down. . . . We are
the can-do people, we are the can-do country, and
we need to get the job done."
And there you have it... John Kerry’s “Let America
be America again” means we’re all back in that
Vietnam boat again -- with John, and Jane. Ah, I
can almost hear the campaign music. Yes! It’s the
Beatles ...
Get back, get back,
Get back to where you was belonged....
To be, or not to be the nominee?
Sen. John Kerry has a money problem. Once he
accepts the Dem presidential nomination, he locks
into the $75 million from the FEC and his
unlimited fundraising comes to a complete halt --
five weeks before his opponent’s, President Bush.
That means Bush has five more weeks than Kerry to
raise unlimited campaign dollars.
How did this happen? Democrat Party Chairman Terry
McAuliffe, wanting the selection process for the
Democrats to be over early, scheduled the
Democrats’ Convention in Boston from July 26 to 29
-- five weeks before the Republicans’ Convention
in New York, Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.
What’s a candidate to do? How about this: hold a
nominating convention, but don’t accept the
nomination... yet. Yes, that way Kerry can
have his cake and eat it, too. Having things both
ways is very Kerry-esque, nes pas?
Now Kerry – the To Be Or Not To Be Nominee – can
boldly state, “I actually will be the nominee
before I will be it.”
