Stewart Iverson, Jr.

Former Iowa State Senator

Stewart Iverson served as Representative to the Iowa House from 1988 to 1994.

Elected to the Iowa Senate in 1994, he was the Republican Majority Leader of the Iowa Senate from 1997 to 2006. Iverson also was co-chair of the Rules and Administration Committee.

Educated in Iowa, he received his BA from Buena Vista College.

Iverson is a former marine (1971-73) and professional farmer with a passion for community service. He is an active member of First Lutheran Church (Dows, Iowa), the American Legion, Farm Bureau, Corn Growers, Soybean Association, Pork Producers, and Elks Club and served 15 years on the Dows Community School Board. Iverson is on the Board of Directors for the Dows Cooperative.

He and his wife, Vicki, reside in Dows, Iowa.

Chuck Gipp

Majority Leader
Iowa House of Representatives

Chuck Gipp was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1990, where he currently serves as Majority Leader.

From 1992-1993, Gipp served as a House Assistant Majority Leader.  In 1994, the position of House Majority Whip was created where he served until 1999.  Gipp was then selected by House leadership in 2000 to Chair the Transportation, Capitals and Infrastructure Committee.  In 2001, he was selected once again to serve as a House Assistant Majority Leader while continuing to serve as Chair of the Transportation, Capitals and Infrastructure Committee.

Gipp served in the U.S. Army Reserves (1970-76) and is a professional farmer.

Educated in Iowa, Gipp received his BA from Luther College.

He and his wife, Ranae, reside in Decorah, Iowa.

Steve Sukup

former Iowa State Representative

2002 Republican Primary candidate
for Governor

Steve has been a co-owner of Sukup Manufacturing Company since 1978, a family-owned agricultural business that has been in business for over 40 years.

Elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1994, Sukup spent 8 years as an Iowa State Representative and 3 years as Speaker Pro-Tem. He served as Vice Chair of the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee and Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee. He also Chaired the Infrastructure and Transportation Committee.

Sukup was an Iowa Gubernatorial candidate in 2002, earning 32% of the primary vote.

Educated in Iowa, Steve received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Iowa State University. He is the recipient of the Professional Progress in Engineering Award from Iowa State University.

He is a member of the Sheffield Development Corporation, Hampton Rotary, Zion Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau, Association of Business and Industry and is on the Board of Director for the Iowa Motor Truck Association.

Steve and his wife, Vicki, and family live in Clear Lake, Iowa.
